How to upgrade or Change the Playstation 3 Slim hard drive. Requires: Philips screw driver 2.5" Hard Drive "the new hard drive" PlayStation 3 First Boot. You will receive an error message, but don't panic, this is a good sign. 1. Download the latest firmware from Sony for the PS3 here: au.playstation.com 2. Have a USB Flash Drive or USB Hard Drive Formatted is FAT32 "it has to be Fat32 to work" 3. Create a Folder on the Drive called PS3 in caps as Shown 4. Inside the PS3 Folder create an UPDATE folder 5. Copy the firmware to the UPDATE Folder 6. Insert the USB Drive into the PlayStation, turn it on 7. Press SELECT and START Buttons on PS3 Controller 8.
